مع تطور الأوضاع المطالبة بالتغيير في اليمن، تراجع الحديث عن الحوثيين والحرب في شمال اليمن، وهي التي شغلت الرأي العام العربي والإسلامي طوال الأعوام السبعة الماضية (1994- 2011).
غير أن تراجع الإهتمام لا يعني نهاية الموضوع، ذلك أن الظاهرة الحوثية لم تتراجع أو تنتهِ إلى فشل أو إنهيار، كما أن تغيُّر الأوضاع في اليمن لن يؤدي إلى نهاية الحركة الحوثية، بل لعله سيزيدها ضراوة وتصميماً طالما أن الأسباب التي أدّت إلى ظهورها ما تزال قائمة، بل لعلها تطوّرت كثيراً منذ مطلع العام 2011 من حيث الأوضاع القبلية والطائفية من جهة، ومجريات الصراع الإقليمي من جهة أخرى، ناهيك عن إرتباط الحالة الحوثية بتيار أيديولوجي - سياسي ثوري في المنطقة يمثله حزب الله اللبناني، الذي يستمد منه الحوثيون الكثير من أفكارهم وتنظيماتهم، حتى جرى إتهامهم بالتحول من الزيدية إلى الإثني عشرية.
يرصد هذا الكتاب تطورات الحالة الحوثية ويضعها في سياقاتها اليمنية الخاصة: القبلية والطائفية والمناطقية، مستنداً إلى قراءة معمَّقة وموثَّقة في تاريخ اليمن السياسي وفي الصراعات التي عاشها، خصوصاً بعد سقوط حكم الإمامة الزيدية ونشوء الجمهورية، ثم منذ سقوط النظام الشيوعي في عدن وإعلان ولادة اليمن الموحد في العام 1990.
