بين طيات هذا الكتاب قصائد كتبت بين أوائل 1983 وأواخر 1984 وهدفها تصوير المأساة التي حدثت في مخيمات صبرا وشاتيلا، وعرض لقطات من أفظع مشاهد الموت والعذاب الذي ارتكب بحق المدنيين اللبنانيين والفلسطينيين، وذلك بقالب شعري خاص ممزوج بنصوص جاءت كمقدمات ترسم تفاصيل ما حدث وفظاعته من خلال متابعة طفل فلسطيني نجا من المجزرة وهاله ما حدث فأخذ يركض في الحواري والممرات بحثاً عن أهله وعائلته.
"لي الكبرياء الآن، والظاهر الذي يؤالف ما بين الحقيقة والخطى، إشارة نطق الشيء بالصمت تنجلي معانيه، أو تجلو من النطق سره. أنا ملكوت الذات لا شيء دونه أنا خاطف الإفهام خطف المناجل. دنوت إلا آثار عيني فأبصرت مسافة هذا الكون نفسي وأدركت فضاء الرؤى، فاستنفر الضد ضده. وأوقفني في موقف الأرض قال لي: فلسطين ليست كوكباً متحولاً، هي الثابت المكنون في سرة الأرض".
