كتاب "العودة إلى سيناء" يستعرض حرب 1973 من وجهة نظر الميجر جنرال "باليت" الذي لمس عن كثب التواطؤ بين الإسرائيليين ودعاتهم في العالم العربي. يضاف إلى ذلك الحرب الإعلامية الشعواء التي قادها الإسرائيليون للتشييد بانتصاراتهم والتي لم يستنكفوا عن حشوها بالكثير من المبالغات. كما أنهم لم يكتفوا بذلك بل شنوا حملة منظمة للحطّ في قدر العرب والاستخفاف بقدرتهم القتالية. ومن هنا أحسّ الكاتب بأن الفرصة مؤاتية لتصحيح الكثير من الأفكار المضللة التي نشرت، ولعرض صورة أكثر توازناً لما جرى في كل فترة الإعداد لحرب تشرين الأول 1973، وفي أثناء تسيير دفة معاركها. وهذا الكتاب يقتصر بصورة أساسية على دراسة العمليات العسكرية وبعض الأسباب السياسية والاستراتيجية التي حملت الرئيس السادات على شنّ الحرب.
