"تفصل قصص هذه المجموعة مسافةٌ متناهية الصغر عن الأحلام. فبالرغم من أن القصص تنطوي جميعها على لمسة من عالم الأحلام الساحر، إلا أن طموحها لا يكمن في مجرد محاكاة الحلم، بل يكمن في محاولة الدخول من بابه؛ من أجل الوصول إلى عالم آخر لا يمكن الجزم ما إذا كان حلما أم حقيقة. عالم يعجّ بالهواجس والرغبات، بالعنف والجنون. هذا العالم البيني قد ينجلي فجأة في لحظة يصل فيها الضجيج إلى أوجه، بين عربتي قطار، أو في طابور أمام مكتب حكومي، لدرجة يضيع فيها الكلام بين الألسنة والآذان. أو قد يلوح في متاهات العمل المعاصرة، حيث يصل الاغتراب إلى أقصاه في لحظات لعب أدوار مصطنعة أثناء لقاءات التشغيل، أو لحظات القيام بأعمال لا يمكن فهم جدواها. من بين ثنايا هذه اللحظات وغيرها يطل عالم غريب، شديد الرقة وشديد التشوه في آن. تقترب الكتابة كثيرًا من الأحلام في هذه المجموعة، حتى تصبح المسافة الفاصلة بينهما متناهية الصغر، ومن ثمّ شديدة الخطورة؛ إذ إن أي حركة غير محسوبة يمكن أن تؤدي إلى انهيار التوازن الدقيق. ولا تكاد تخرج كل القصص سالمة من هذا الرهان الخطير. فهناك قصص تنجح في تحقيق استقلالية عن الحلم، وأخرى يصعقها سحر الحلم إذا حدث وتلاشت تلك المسافة الصغيرة. لكن المثير هو إصرار الكتابة طوال قصص المجموعة على تلك الاستراتيجية الخطرة. كأن رهانها هو بالضبط تلك المسافة المتناهية الصغر التي تفصلها عن الحلم. فتظل تسير على الحافة قصة وراء أخرى، مهما كلفها ذلك من ثمن". هيثم الورداني
