يحاول هذا الكتاب النظر في رؤية الفكر الإسلامي المعاصر تجاه مسألة العولمة, وذلك في إطار تقييم وتحليل هذه الرؤية بين ما هو كائن, وبين ما ينبغي أن يتحول ويتكون, انطلاقاً من حاجة الفكر الإسلامي لأن يتجاوز ويتخطى قراءته الأولى المنفعلة بتأثير ما سمي بصدمة العولمة, وهي القراءة التي غلب عليها موقف الشك والخوف والرفض التام والكلي والمطلق. هناك حاجة لتجاوز هذه القراءة بوصفها قراءة ناقصة وخائفة وغير ناضجة, وهي أقرب إلى التعبير عن الموقف النفسي المنفعل والمرتبك والمضطرب, وضرورة البحث عن قراءة ثانية يغلب عليها الموقف العلمي, والتحليل الموضوعي, والنظر النقدي, والاستشراف المستقبلي, قراءة واعية وواثقة وناضجة. يحتوي الكتاب على فصلين هما: الفصل الأول حمل عنوان: العولمة.. محاولة للفهم والتفسير. الفصل الثاني حمل عنوان: العولمة.. محاولة لتجديد منهج النظر.
