* "أفريقيا عالم قائم بذاته" ليس كتاب رحلات كما ليس مذكرات لدبلوماسي قديم .. * إن المؤلف السفير سعد الفطاطري قد عرض لأفريقيا مزوداً بتجربه طويلة في العمل بالخدمة الخارجية فقد تولى مباشرة عقب تخرجه من كلية الحقوق بالاسكندرية التى عمل بها معيداً لمدة سنتين عدة مناصب بالخارج بدأت كملحق بالسفارة المصرية بباريس عام 1946 التى مكث بها أربع سنوات تدرج بعدها في عدة مناصب بسفاراتنا في لندن وبون وأديس أبابا وبوينس أيرس ثم سفيرا لمصر في برلين لمدة سبع سنوات تولى بعدها منصب سفير مصر بالخرطوم لمدة خمس سنوات إنتهت عندما استدعى منها وكلف بعدة مهام بالدول الأفريقية غطت زياراته لها أكثر من ثلثي القارة. * وللمؤلف كتاب أصدره منذ زمن عندما كان معيدا بكلية الحقوق عن "عقد التأمين في النظرية والتطبيق" وكتاب عن المشكلة الالمانية "أصدره عقب الحرب العالمية الثانية. * والأمل كبير بعد كتابه عن أفريقيا أن يتبعه في القريب ان شاء الله كتاب عن ذكرياته بألمانيا الديموقراطية بعد كتابه الذي يعده الآن عن سنواته الخمس بالسودان تحت عنوان "السودان أرض النيلين"
