نبذة النيل والفرات: يأتي هذا العمل في إطار عمل "مؤسسة شارل مالك" التي تقوم بنشر أهم مساهمات "شارل حبيب مالك" (1906-1987) المفكر والفيلسوف والدبلوماسي والعربي الوحيد الذي شارك في صياغة وإعداد الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان في ديسمبر 1948م بصفته رئيس المجلس الإقتصادي والإجتماعي التابع للأمم المتحدة. يضم كتاب "به كان كل شيىء" كتابات شارل مالك الروحية والدينية التي كتبت أصلاً باللغة العربية، وهي مجموع خطابات ومحاضرات وعظات ألقيت في مناسبات محددة. يظهر للقارىء لها - أي الكتابات - "البعد المسكوني الأساسي في فكر شارل مالك المسيحي" ذلك أن مالك كان دائماً يركز على الأمور الأساسية التي يشترك فيها جميع المسيحيين. فهو يجمع في فكره اللاهوتي الكنيسة والكتاب المقدس والتقليد والإختبار اإلإيماني الشخصي ولا يقيم تضادا بينها فالمهم برأيه "أن يشهد المسيحيون ليسوع المسيح في العالم، لا أن يتساجلوا على مواقفهم العقيدية المختلفة". توزعت مواد الكتاب على سبعة محاور جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: 1- "يسوع المسيح"، 2- "الكتاب المقدس واللاهوت"، 3- "الكنيسة"، 4-"الحياة المسيحية"، 5- "الإيمان المسيحي والعالم"، 6- "عظات"، وأخيرا "شهادة عمر".
