(صموداً من بغداد) رواية ذات مضمون قومي- واقعي، تصور الحياة البغدادية والصراعات السياسية والإجتماعية التي أعقبت قيام الجمهورية في العراق عام 1958م. تستعرض الرواية سيرة طالب من الريف يكمل دراسته الثانوية في بغداد، وهي تتحدث عن أبرز ساعات حياته التي عاشها هناك من خلال تقييم جانب مهم من جوانب التاريخ الحديث الخاص بالفترة بعد ثورة تموز 1958م وحتى ثورة الموصل عام 1959م. هذه الحكاية يرويها "مروان شرماهي" بخطاب روائي يعكس خبرة كبيرة في السرد وترتيب الأحداث السياسية – الإجتماعية- في العراق من دون أن تبتعد من روح الحكاية ومضمونها الإنساني، (الإنسان داخل هذا المجتمع) وتأثره وتأثيره في الأحداث الجارية وهذا ما عكسه بطل الرواية "شرقاوي بقوله: "..... لم أعرف بعد بأن الديمقراطية التي جاءت بها الثورة الجديدة هي هاوية سحيقة لا تقود إلا للمقبرة! وأنني لا أنكر بأن الحياة البغدادية الصاخبة قد شغلت تفكيري وتطلعي للإستمتاع بمباهجها فكنت كلما إستيقظت تحت سحر الليل وضوء القمر سرحت بأحاسيس مخيفة في أغوار النفس وكانت تظهر من حين لآخر(...)، وهكذا عشقت الحياة البغدادية بعاداتها وتقاليدها المكتسبة، ذلك أن المجتمع الذي أعيش فيه هم جميعهم وفدوا إليه من مناطق ريفية، وحاولوا إستبدال أخلاقهم العتيقة التي هي أكثر أصالة وبراءة من أخلاق المدينة المتحررة والتي تحاول تحطيم تلك القيود الإجتماعية الثقيلة...."
