نشأت الكتابة في أدب الخيال العلمي عند الغربيين منذ أواخر القرن التاسع عشر. وازدهرت في مطلع القرن العشرين.. ثم التفت أدباؤنا العرب إلى هذا اللون من الأدب مؤخراً، فكتب فيه المصريون خاصة والمغاربة. ثم خصص الدكتور طالب عمران في سورية جهوده كلها لمعالجة أدب الخيال العلمي، فوضع أكثر من ثلاثين كتاباً فيه.. فأحدث بذلك اتجاهاً خاصاً في سورية، وريادة تستحق الدراسة التي قدمها هذا الكتاب على نحو منهجي علمي... ونحن بحاجة إلى مثلها.
