جدة.. حكاية مدينة من تأليف الكاتب محمد يوسف طرابلسي، وهو دبلوماسي سعودي سابق تقلد الكثير من المناصب في الخارج، كان آخرها عمله كرئيس للبعثة السعودية في تايبيه بجمهورية الصين الوطنية. وكتاب جدة.. حكاية مدينة يبين طبيعة الحياة الاجتماعية في جدة والملامح العامة لتاريخها، كما يتناول بشيء من التفصيل أحياءها التقليدية، مساجدها، عاداتها، تقاليدها، فنونها، رجالاتها، نشاطات سكانها، أزياءها، بنوكها، وأعيادها.. وقد استند المؤلف كثيرا إلى الحكايات المروية التي جادت بها ذاكرة المعمرين من سكان هذه المدينة، إضافة إلى خبراته الشخصية التي عاشها في جدة كواحد من أبنائها، سكنها عشقا وسكنته بهاء، كما تحدث الكتاب عن مدينة جدة وتاريخها الاستيطاني الذي يمتد إلى ما بعد العصر الحجري الحديث. كما أفرد المؤلف مساحة كبيرة من كتابه لعلاقة هذه المدينة مع البحر، وعلاقة سكانها بأعماله، وهم كما يصفهم الرحالة بوركهارت بأنهم: جميعا بحارة أو تجار بحريون أو عاملون بالتجارة. ويقول الكاتب في مقدمة كتابه: تعشقها من حيث تدري ولا تدري فتسكن الشعور واللاشعور، وتصطفيها النفس دون تكلف أو رياء.. ليلها ونهارها حكايات حالمة حلم الباحثين عن الجمال، حانية رؤوم تسكب دفئها لتحتضن القاصي والداني فإذا هو عاشق متيم.
