يهتم هذا الكتاب بتعليم النحو العربي أو تكوين "المهارات النحوية" التي هي غاية التعليم فيما يخص دارسي العربية أو آدابها أو علوم الشريعة. وهوبحث قائم على أسس عامة لتكوين المهارات، شكلت مادة هذا الكتاب. ففي (الأسس التربوية) رأى البحث أن تهيأ البيئة الصالحة لتقبل التعليم وممارسة المهارات من خلال بناء قاعدة لغوية تقوم على: عروبة المناخ الإسلامي، عروبة التعليم والبحث العلمي، تقليص اللغات الأجنبية، وتعزيز الاحترام والتقدير لدى الطالب والأستاذ. وفي (الأسس النفسية) اقترح البحث فك الحصار المفروض على العربية المتمثل في قسوة المناهج وتيسير الحاجات والمهارات اللغوية لكل مواطن، وترشيد القراءة الصامتة. وفي (الأسس المنطقية) ألح البحث على الإستفادة من تاريخ النحو العربي والبنيوية المعاصرة لتنسيق مناهج التعليم ومصنفاته، وطالب في ميدان التدريس بتوضيح مفاهيم المصطلحات، وبتقرير تفاعل الصرف والإعراب والأدوات، وتمييز مصطلحات كل منها وأخيراً الح البحث على أن تراعى الأسس التربوية والنفسية والمنطقية المذكورة، ليصار إلى التيسير في تعليم النحو، وتكوين المهارات عند الطلاب تبعاً لحاجاتهم ووظائفهم في المستقبل.
