وفي المستوى الصرفي، تناول الكتاب جوانب الوزن والشكل، وما يلابس الصيغ من الإسمية والفعلية، والمضي والمضارعة والأمر، والإفراد والتثنية والجمع، والسلامة والتكسير، والنسبة والتصغير، والتجرد والزيادة، والحذف والترخيم، والصحة والإعتلال، والنقص والقصر، (...) إلى ذلك، يفسر الكتاب ظواهر التغيير في الصوت والصيغة، من إعلال وإبدال، وإدغام وإظهار، وقلب مكاني، وحذف وزيادة، وتحريك وتسكين، ونقل وإتباع، وابتداء ووقف، وروم وإشمام، وتضعيف والتقاء ساكنين، وإمالة وتفخيم، واستعلاء وتكرار، وتمكن وفصل، وتحقيق وتخفيف ... وما يكون في ذلك من وجوب وجواز ومنع، ولفظ ورسم.
