ليس هذا كتاب طب وإنما هو بحث في فن فلكلوري لشعب عريق بالحضارة، وهو موجة للباحثين عن حقيقة الأشياء. حاول المؤلف فيه الرجوع إلى النظريات الميثولوجية والفولكلورية الصينية الغارقة في القدم لأنها الأسس الحقيقية لهذا الفن الطبي. ويقول المؤلف بأن القضية تشبه لحدّ ما وسيط التنويم المغناطيسي، إذ يوجد أناس معنيون، لهم صفات فسيولوجية معينة وقوى نفسية خاصة لا يمتلكها كل الناس، ولعل أهل الصين فيهم أغلبية تستجيب أجسامها لهذا الفن العلاجي. وقد قام المؤلف بمتابعة لدراسة في هذا الكتاب حول العلاج بالإبر الصينية على أسس علمية وإكمالاً للفائدة، وضع مسلسلاً للتاريخ الصيني القديم تسبقه مقدمة في بعض العقائد الميثولوجية-الأسطورية-بحيث أنهى تاريخ كل أسرة أو حقبة بالتطور الحاصل بفن التأبير في عهدها، جاعلاً مقدار ما كتبه من تاريخها متناسباً مع ما أضيف لهذا الفن في تلك الفترة، لذا توقف المؤلف عند أسرة يوان (المغول) فلم يضف أي شيء على فن التأبير لا في عهد هذه الأسرة ولا بعدها وقد اعتمد في كتابة تأريخ الصين على كتب التاريخ الكبرى المعروفة وذكرها مع المصادر الأخرى في آخر الكتاب، بالإضافة إلى ذلك اعتمد المؤلف على كتابات المؤرخ الصيني حيادجيان لبيان بعض الحقائق التاريخية التي كتبت مغلوطة في الكتب الغربية عن الصين، مضيفاً إلى كتابه هذا من كتبه الرحالة الإسلامي ابن بطوطة عن الصين، وما كتب عنها في معجم البلدان لياقوت الحموي.
