محمد علي اليوسفي أديب تونسي من مواليد مدينة باجة يوم 3 مارس 1950 درس المرحلتين الابتدائية والثانوية بتونس ثم سافر إلى الشرق العربي حيث أتم دراسته الجامعية في جامعة دمشق وتخرج في قسم الفلسفة والعلوم الاجتماعية. تابع الدراسات العليا في الاختصاص ذاته بـ الجامعة اللبنانية خلال الحرب الأهلية.وفي الأثناء مارس الترجمة والكتابة والصحافة الثقافية في أبرز الصحف والمجلات السورية واللبنانية والفلسطينية.عاد إلى تونس ليستقر بها بعد عشرين عاما أمضى ثمانية منها في جزيرة قبرص.

الشهنامة هو كتاب ألفه الفردوسي أبو القاسم منصور في فترة ال 1000م، وهو يعد الملحمة الوطنية لبلاد فارس، ويشكل الكتاب ثقلا كبيرا بالنسبة للقوميين الفرس. المحتويات وأسلوب الشاعر في وصف الأحداث يعيدان القارئ ألف سنة ويسمحان للقارئ باستشعار الأحداث في المسرح السحري للعقل. وهو مبني بشكل رئيسي على نسخة نثرية سابقة، كانت تجمع القصص الإيرانية القديمة والحقائق والخرافات التاريخية. لأكثر من ألف عام واصل الفرس القراءة والاستماع لهذا العمل النادر الذي وجدت فيه الملحمة الوطنية الفارسية شكلها النهائي. هو تاريخ ماضي إيران، مسجل على شكل شعر. ومع أن النص كتب قبل أكثر من 1000 سنة، إلا أن هذا العمل واضح وسهل لفهم القارئ في العصر الحالي.
