"أدونيس". تروي الميثولوجيا الفينيقية القديمة أن خنزيراً صرع الإله أدونيس عندما كان يصطاد في جبال لبنان، وظلَّت حبيبته الإلهة عشتروت تبكيه حتى انبعث من الموت على شكل شقائق النعمان، وصار النهر المعروف بنهر إبراهيم في لبنان يتلوَّن مع كل ربيع باللون الأحمر، بدمه، ليرمز إلى القيامة والتجدّد والحياة والخلود. في هذا الكتاب، لا يعود أدونيس على شكل شقائق النعمان، بل كإله يحمل رسالة المحبة لبني البشر، وكأنَّ حبَّه لــ عشتروت قد أعدَّه لحمل رسالة المحبة هذه، على إعتبار أنَّ الحب الإنساني وحده يقيم البشر من كبوتهم. ولم يرجع أدونيس أيضاً كحبيب لــ عشتار فقط، فالإله المنبعث قد عرف، بل خبر بعد مصرعه أسرار الموت والقبور، وعاد برسالة حياة جديدة للعالم حول غاية الخلق العليا والمقاصد السامية للوجود. ومن هنا، كان على أدونيس أن يرحل مجدَّداً ليؤدي رسالته هذه، ولتخسره عشتار المعذّبة ثانيةً...
