"أجراس الزبد" رواية شعرية تنتمي إلى مدرسة الأدب الملحمي الجديد (Neo-epic) التي أسّسها الأديب والشاعر دريد عوده سنة 2009 في عمله الأول "رائعة أدونيس وعشتار" بجزأيها "حب البشر وأقدار الآلهة" و"في محراب الحب والقيامة". ثم رفدتها وكالة "مواهب أدبية" أخيراً، بالتعاون مع دار الفارابي، بديوان "أساطير امرأة سورية" للشاعرة إنعام أسعد.
وإذ يعتبر بعض الكتّاب والنقّاد الرواية الشعرية "مستحيلة" لصعوبة الجمع بين السرد الروائي (إخبار القصة) من جهة، والرمزية الشعرية (الاقتضاب) من جهة ثانية، واءم كاتب رواية "أجراس الزبد" الشعرية هذين الشرطين، فقرعت أجراسه سرداً وندف زبده رمزيةً: تكلّم البحر الرحب بلغة الزبد، عصارة أعماقه. قَرَضَ الموج، أرغنُ اليم، أشعارَه رنينَ شطآن. واللجّة الزرقاء، طيف السماء، خبّأت قصصها الكثيرة في خزائن الصَّدَف، أقبية الدهور العتيقة؛ في قلب الياقوت الأحمر، العشق الجوري النازف حنيناً وشوقاً؛ في ربيع الجاد المخضوضر، أجفان إلهة الأرض غايّا؛ في حبّات اللؤلؤ، دمع مراسي الرحيل؛ في حقول المرجان، بساط الندى الوضّاء على بتلات اللوتس، أجساد عذارى الموج.
في "أجراس الزبد" حربٌ ضروس بين إله القوة آريس وإله الحب إيروس، بين الصولجان والسهم الذهبي. مؤامرات البلاط ومكائد كوبيدون. زواج السلطة والمال. حب وعشق وبطولة وتضحية. صراع الحب والواجب، سِمة الأدب الكلاسيكي حيث ينتصر صوت الواجب على نبض القلب.
بيد أن الأدب الملحمي الجديد يتخطّى المدرسة الكلاسيكية: في ذروة التراجيديا الملحمية الجديدة، ينتصر الحب على ذاته!
ويتخطى أيضاً الأدب الملحمي التقليدي: الحرب في الملاحم الجديدة حرب مقدّسة على الذات؛ البطولة الحقّة تخطٍّ وتحرّر.
