كل ما يطرح في هذا الكتاب من المقاربات الشيعية والمسيحية يشير إلى التاريخ المشترك الذي واصل بينهما في كثير من مظاهر الحياة الثقافية والإجتماعية والتي تكون قد نشأت منذ وقت مبكر من ظهور الإسلام بعد أن اتخذ الإمام علي عليه السلام (الكوفة) عاصمة له وللخلافة الإسلامية، فموقع الكوفة الذي شهد انطلاقة التشيّع كان بيئة نصرانية في الأساس وفيها برزت شخصية علي عليه السلام وطبق ذكرها آفاق النصارى الذين عرفون منذ حادثة (المباهلة) التي كانت المحطة الأولى لتلاقي الإسلام والمسيحية بحضور الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم وآل بيته (عليهم السلام) مع كبار أساقفة نجران الذين ابعدوا فيما بعد مع جميع مواطنيهم إلى الكوفة قبل تشريف علي الكوفة، فليس بدعاً أن نرى اهتمام الإمام علي بهم وبجميع الأقليات المضطهدة من سكان العراق القدامى.
وستجد أن الكتاب يحتوي على شواهد مختارة تؤكد على عمق الصلة بين الطائفتين من الناحية المعنوية وبينها وبين كافة الطوائف وما يعنينا هنا من جمعها هو الإنطلاق منها لبناء أسس للوفاق الفكري بين الأديان وتقوية الإهتمام للحوار بينها من أجل العيش المشترك والسلم الأهلي وتكثيف التعاون والإصلاح وتوثيق علائق المحبة والإحترام المتبادل.
