يمثل هذا الكتاب وثيقة تاريخية نادرة تسجل بشمول وتفصيل ما لحق بالمسيحيين في تركيا وبلاد ما بين النهرين ولاسيما في ماردين، من الظلم والتعدي والخطف والنفي والسبي والذبح والقتل وسائر الفظائع وذلك في سنة 1895 وفيما بين سنة 1914 وسنة 1919.
تلك هي حقيقة الحال التي ستراها في تصفحك لهذا الكتاب المؤثر الذي جعله مؤلفه في خمسة أجزاء بحث في أدلها عن الحوادث الغابرة، وأورد في الثاني نكبات الحرب العامة مياومة منذ مفتتحها حتى سلخ آيار 1915، وكتب في الثالث أخبار الحبوس والمذابح والسبي وسائر الفظائع التي جرت بماردين من حزيران 1915 إلى تشرين وأثبت في الرابع نتفاً من أخبار مذابح بلاد الجزيرة كالرها ودياريكو وراس العين ودير الزور وضور عبدين وسعرت الخ.
وأضاف إلى ذلك جزءاً خامساً ضمنه توابع المذابح ولواحق النكبات وخاتمتها كبيع متروكات النصارى ونبش الدفائن واستخراج الخزائن، وقدوم المسلمين المهاجرين إلى ماردين الخ.. وختمه بما أصاب السيد جبرائيل مطران السريان في العذابات وقتما نفي وحبس.
