إن دخول الاتفاقيات الدولية حيز التنفيذ وخاصة اتفاقية إنهاء كافة أنواع التميز ضد المرأة (سيداو) كان له أثر كبير في عقد المؤتمرات الدولية الإسلامية لمواجهة ما يسمى بخطر تحديات العصر، وخاصة فيما يتعلق بحقوق المرأة ضمن إطار هذه الاتفاقيات وبحث جوانب الاختلاف والتناقض بين اتفاقية سيداو والشريعة الإسلامية، التي لا بد لنا أن نوضح أنها شريعة غراء جاءت لإصلاح البشرية رجالاً ونساءً على السواء باعتبارهم جنساً واحداً لا تقوم الحياة الإنسانية إلا بهم فلم يُفرق بين جنس الرجل وجنس المرأة وجاء ذلك واضحاً من خلال الكثير من الآيات القرآنية التي حوت القيم الإنسانية الفريدة التي تكشف لنا عن قيمة المرأة وموقعها في المجتمع . إن ثقافتنا الإسلامية جاءت وسطاً بين الإفراط والتفريط فجعل لكل مهما وظيفة شرفه بها، لا ينبغي لأحدهما أن يشعر بالدونية عند القيام بوظيفته، وإذا وجد من لديه هذا الشعور أو وجد من يتمنى ما لدى الآخر من خصائص فإن هذا يعد مؤشراً خطيراً على وجود خلل في البنية الفكرية والنفسية حيث إن ثمة علاقة كبيرة بين الثقافة وشخصية الفرد ونظرته، فإذا التقت الثقافة بفطرة سليمة كان لهذا أثر كبير في بناء شخصية هذا الفرد واستقلاله. أما إذا التقت الثقافة بفطرة غير سليمة ملتوية كانت النتيجة اهتزازاً للشخصية بل ووقعها في آفات المرض النفسي والخلل في البنية الفكرية. هذا ما حصل للكثير من أفراد مجتمعنا المسلم عند مناداة المنادين بالحقوق المشروعة للمرأة الإنسانة، الحقوق التي لم تكن تعيها من قبل، على الرغم من وجودها في شرعنا الإسلامي، المشكلة الحقيقية التي أصبحت نصب أعيننا هي أننا نعيش في مجتمعات تأخذ فيها المعرفة صفة الإثم والخطيئة، وكأنهم ظنوا أننا لن نستطيع الوصول أبداً إلى مرحلة من الحوار والمناقشة، بل اعتقد البعض أن وجود المرأة ما هو إلا لامتلاكها جسداً وعقلاً فلم يبتعدوا كثيراً عن فكرة الامتلاك التي نشأت في تاريخ البشرية منذ آلاف السنين أي (قبل الإسلام) حيث تطور نظام البشرية بفكرة الامتلاك والتي تعني القهر المستمر، والذي من الضروري عند وصولنا لهذا الإحساس أن ندافع عن وجودنا ونتمسك بشرعنا الإسلامي الذي دافع عن فكرة امتلاك المرأة بل ألغاها ليجعل النساء شقائق الرجال حيث قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم "إنما النساء شقائق الرجال.
