ان مقالات هذا الكتاب جاءت لتعالج موضوع نشأة وازدهار وبداية سقوط الحضارة الاسلامية من خلال ما عبرت عنه في الزهد والتشيع والتصوف . فقد ذهب الوعي مع الحضارة التي سقطت وبقي اللاوعي . وأضاف الغزو الاستعماري الأوروبي طينة اللاذب ايضا فزاد اللاوعي تفسخا ظل الغذو الأوروبي يبحث عن تبرير نظري وعملي لكي يخرق مبادىء الحرية ، والاخاء والمساواة التي طرحها كهوية حضارية تميزه عن الحضارات والثقافات الأخرى ، فابقى المجتمعات البدوية في المجتمع العربي خارج التأريخ واستلحق بها الجزء الحصري ، فأصبح المقدم تاليا ، والظهر وجها ، والعربة أمام الحصان أن وضع الفئات العاجزة تأريخيا أمام الفئات القادرة من المجتمع العربي جعل الزمان يبدو وكأنه يتقدم الى الخلف وقد لاحظ شاعر مضيىء البصيرة ذلك ( لماذا الذي كان ما زال يأتي – لأن الذي سوف ياتي ذهب ) وقد جاهد الغزو تفكيرا وتنفيذا أن تصبح القبائل والطوائف اوطانا وامما وحدودا وأن يجعل من تلك التجزئة اكذوبة ملكية مقدسة الشيىء الآخر أن الغزو قد أدخل في الذهن العربي أن الخلاف القائم بين الغرب والشرق قائم على التناحر بين الاسلام والمسيحية . واذا كانت المغالطة بيتة ، اذ ان المسيحية شرقية الأصول والاسلام دي عالمي الطابع الا ان هذه المغالطة الفجة تتسق تماما مع العقل البدوي التجزيئي الذي لايعرف غير شجرة النسب والقبيلة وديارها موطنا .
