ذكر الأمير دانيال أنه كلما مر تاجراً من هناك، ليشتري خمور بيتسان المميزة، كان يذهب فيسبح في برك ينابيعها، وبالصدفة التقى الأميرة الجميلة إيزابيل هناك، فتحادثا تحت الشلالات الفضية الساقطة على جسديهما، وعرف منها أنها ابنة ملك بيسان. وبعدها تطورت علاقتهما، لدرجة أنه صار يذهب معها في رحلات إلى بحيرة الجليل الساحرة الجمال، وأحياناً كانا يصعدان على حصانيهما إلى سفوح جبل حرمون، ولو أنهما لم يصلا إلى قمته المكسوة بالثلوج صيفاً شتاءً. وكانا يأكلان في المناطق المرتفعة ثماراً شهيّة لا توجد إلا في تلك المرتفعات، اسمها التفاح. ومثل قمة جبل حرمون، صار حبهما شامخاً، ومثل نصاعة بياض ثلجه، كان حبهما طاهراً ونقياً، ذلك لأنه راودها ذات مرة عن نفسها، فقالت له إنها تحبه على مذهب الربة الطاهرة عناة، وليس على مذهب عشتار، البغي المقدسة." بعد كل هذا، أدرك دانيال أن حبه لإيزابيل كان مُحرّماً، وغير قابل للزواج .. فجيعة كبرى تتم خلف الستائر! ترى ماذا حدث، وكيف تناسخت قصة العشق الكنعانية هذه .
