حاولت هذه الدراسة الاقتراب من شعر سمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم متخذة لهذا الاقتراب وسائل هي أقرب إلى الفن وصنعة الشعر من غيرها. وكان الاعتماد على ديوان سموه وأمسيته الشعرية، وإذ تكاملت المادة بين يدي الباحث عمد إلى نخلها وتمحيصها فاستقامت له على ضوئها أربعة فصول هي: الصورة الشعرية، درس فيه ذلك العنصر السحري في الشعر، وهو التصوير فوقف عند التشبيه، والصورة الجزئية والقصيدة/الصورة. أما الفصل الثاني: فهو: ظواهر أسلوبية، كسره على خمسة مباحث هي: الطباق، والاستفهام، والدعاء، والترديد والتكرار، وصنعه الشعر. وخصص الفصل الثالث للظواهر اللغوية فوقف عند مواقع الحروف، واللوحة المصدرية، وظاهرة الفصيح، أما الفصل الرابع وهو الأخير فكان عن الأوزان والقوافي، تحدث فيه عن علاقة الوزن في الشعر النبطي بالعروض الخليلي، والأوزان في شعر سموه، والتضمين والقوافي. وكان رائده وهو يلج هذا الفضاء الجديد النص والمنهجية، أما النص فهو الرائد الذي لا يكذب أهله منه تستقى القضايا، وعنه تصدر وإليه تنتهي وأما المنهجية فهي عماد أي بحث يريد له صاحبه الحياة والبقاء وسماع الآخرين له.
