روائي سوري من مواليد محافظة حمص.
يحمل درجة الدكتوراة في علوم الإعلام والصحافة من جامعة بلغراد.
يعيش في سويسرا حصل الجنسية السويسرية بجانب جنسيته السورية.
له كتب عديدة أهمها كتاب في الفلسفة بعنوان "وعي السلوك"، وله كتاب آخر مهم في علوم الصحافة بعنوان "الصحافة والصحفي المعاصر".
من رواياته التي كان لها صداً كبيراً "عشاق الدير"، "محنة البيت القديم" وقد تم منعها في الأردن، "الرقص في هياكل الشرق" وقد تم منعها في الأردن أيضاً، "السيد يلعب غميضة"، "حكواتي ليس إلا".
له العديد من روائع القصص القصيرة (وبخاصة أرواح الصور)ومجموعة كبيرة من الدراسات الهامة ومقالات كثيرة.
كذلك صدرت له رواية باللغة الفرنسية بعنوان(L'étoile du prophète) أي "نجمة النبي" وحصلت على صدى كبير في المسرح الأدبي الفرنسي

يرجع الكاتب في هذه الرواية إلى التاريخ.. تاريخ قريب مدون في مخزونه المعرفي, منطلقاً من قرية وادعة في بادية الشام, تستكين بأحضان دير يبعث الرهبة والتقديس في أرواح أهلها على اختلاف مذاعبهم, ليعري عبر سرد روائي شفاف هشاشة اليقين والثوابت. ومن هناك يمضي بنا عبر توظيف محكم إلى تاريخ آخر بعيد. ورغم تأكيد الكاتب على حقيقة الأحداث و دقتها كما وردت لدى المؤرخين, إلا أن انتقاءه لتلك الأحداث, بقريبها و بعيدها.. يشي بموقف نقدي مكنون يفضح الوعي المزيف و يؤكد أن بإمكان نص إبداعي مخاطبة العقل وتحريضه, رغم انعتاقه من الوعظ والمباشرة. وهو في كل ذلك ربما يعطي إجابة ما لوظيفة الأدب والإبداع التي عليها أن تستبطن موقفاً وتحقق متعة في آن. والكاتب في معماره الروائي حقق ذلك بامتياز إذ ترك لخياله وخيال القارئ دوراً أساسياً في عملية وإعادة عملية الخلق.
