عرف محمد على هذا فى مصر منذ الثلاثينات من القرن التاسع عشر، فأرسل البعثات من أيناء مصر إلى بعض دول أوربا،والتى كانت قد وضعت أقدمها على طريق العلم والمعرفة والتقدم،وخاصة فرنسا وألمانيا وإنجلترا. وبعد نهضة مصر هذه بنحو أربعين عاًما،ظهر (فى اليابان) إمبراطور ذو فكر مستنير،وعزيمة قوية،قادر على هزّ شعبه بقوة،لإخراجة من سبٌاتة،ولتوجية ناحية الإبداع والتقدم ..ذلك هو الإمبراطور (ميجى)(1868-1912) .. وكان أول ما قام به (ميجى) هذا أن أرسال البعثات من أبناء اليابان إلى كل مكان ظن فيه علماً وتقدٌّما.. وكان من بين البلاد التى أرسل إليها بعثاته.. مصر،للوقوف على أسرار (تقدم)أبنائها) وفى الوقت الذى تقدمت فيه اليابان،التى سبقتها مصر على طريق التقدم،حتى لقد ابتعت إليها بعضَ أبنائها لنقل سر نهضتها..مثلما تقدم- بعدها - الاتحاد السوفيتى، ثم الصين ..ومثلما تقدمت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية قبل هذه البلاد جميعاً. انتكست النهضة المصرية، وذلك (لأن كلا منها سار فى طريق التقدم، مراعبًا- فى سيره- ظروف الخاصة، وملامح شخصيتة القومية.. بينما لم تستطيع مصر تحقيق التقدم ،لانها ظلت – حتى اليوم تتطلع إلى النماذج الموجودة فى البلاد المتقدمة) ونتيجة لتطلٌّع مصر الدائم إلى النماذج الموجودة فى البلاد المتقدمة منذ عهد محمد على .. داخل التعليم فى مصر آفاق القرن الحادى والعشرين مٌثقَلا بأوجاع الاستنزاف قرابة قرنين من الزمان، صار – بها – عبثًا على الحياة المصرية كلها، مثلما زاد عجزه عن إثبات جدواه أمام المجتمع، وعن تبرير ما يٌنفَق عليه من مليارات الجنيهات كل عام.
