أصبح الجبر المجرد يلعب دوراً كبيراً ليس فقط في مجال الرياضيات، إنما له دور أكثر أهمية في مجالات: الفيزياء، الكيمياء، علم الحاسوب... الخ. يلعب الجبر المجرد دور الرابط بين فروع الرياضيات، والدور النشط في مجال البحث خصوصاً منذ القرن الماضي وحتى الآن، وأكثر النتائج أهمية في هذا المجال تحققت في القرن العشرين. وهذا الكتاب يعتبر مدخلاً جيداً لموضوعات الجبر المجرد أو للاستخدام في العلوم الأخرى أو في تعلم الموضوع نفسه. وذلك لأن المؤلف قد تعرض فيه للمواضيع الرئيسية بأسلوب يغلب عليه الوضوح والبساطة والعمق في البحث. كما وأضاف الكثير من الأمثلة مع الحلول لتوضيح الأفكار المدروسة، كما ذُيِّل كل بند بالعديد من التمارين. وإضافة إلى ذلك ذُيل كل فصل بتمارين كثيرة ومتدرجة في الصعوبة حتى يختبر الطالب مقدرته على فهم واستنتاج الموضوع الذي تناوله، ويتم ذلك بتحضير القارئ للموضوعات اللاحقة. والكتاب يحتوي على ستة فصول جاءت موضوعاتها كما يلي: الفصل الأول والثاني احتوى على المبادئ العامة لنظرية المجموعات. أما في الفصلين الثالث والرابع فتمّ التركيز على نظرية الزمر باعتبارها مجموعة تحت تأثير عملية ثنائية واحدة تتصف بخواص معينة. أما الفصل الخامس فتعرض للحلقات باعتبارها مجموعة تحت تأثير عمليتين ثنائيتين بشروط معينة. في حين يتضمن الفصل السادس والأخير المجالات وحلقات الحدوديات. كما يحتوي الكتاب في نهايته على قائمة بالمصطلحات العلمية المستخدمة في الكتاب وتعريبها حتى تساعد القارئ على تكوين الصورة الواضحة للموضوع بدون لبس أو غموض.
