"يُعتبر هذا الكتابُ محاولةً متواضعةً لإماطة اللّثام عن حقل الجماليّة التي أضحت اليوم أفقاً مفتوحاً على حياتنا اليومية، بهدف الوقوفِ على معانيها وتبيُّن مقاربتها ونظرياتها التي حاولت فهم أو تفسير العمل الفني من حيث طبيعتُه وشروطُه وأساليبُه، والكشف عن عملية التفكير في آلياته ومستتبعاته. وذلك لأن هذا العمل قد لقي اهتماماً كبيراً في الدراسات الفلسفية منذ العصر اليوناني إلى يومنا هذا، وفتح المجالَ واسعاً لطرح إشكالياتٍ ولظهور معضلاتٍ يمكن أن تُخوّلنا معرفة حقيقة الظاهرة الجماليّة وكنهِ عملية الإبداع الفنّي. هذا، وقد اعتُمد في مقاربة القضايا الجماليّة على النصوص الفلسفية باعتبارها مادةً معرفيةً تُمكّن القارئ من الاتصال المباشر بالفكر الفلسفي الجمالي، وتُلقي الضوءَ على أهم المقاربات الفلسفية النظرية التي أطّرت هذا الفكر، بدايةً من أفلاطون وصولاً إلى جاك دريدا، مروراً بكبار الفلاسفة الذين كان لهم باعٌ طويلٌ وإسهامٌ جديرٌ بالاهتمام في الحقل الجمالي، كأرسطو والفارابي وكانط وهيغل ولوكاش وأدورنو وغيرهم. لقد عالجت نصوصُ هؤلاء الفلاسفة أهم القضايا التي طرحها الفكرُ الجماليّ مثلَ طبيعة الجمال، والفن والحقيقة، ومعايير الذوق الجمالي، ودور الفن في المجتمع وغيرها من القضايا التي ما زالت تُطرح في الحقلِ الفلسفي المعاصر".
