أبو البقاء كمال الدين محمد بن موسى بن عيسى بن على الملقب بالـ "الدميري" نظرا لانتماء أسرته إلى بلدة "دميرة" بشمال مصر.
مولده و حياته
ولد كمال الدين الدميري بمدينة القاهرة عام 742 هـ (1341 م)، و كان في أول أمره يعمل خياطا ثم غلبه حب العلم فثابر على تلقيه حتى برز فيه فأفتى و درّس بالقاهرة، ثم انتقل إلى مكة للمجاوزة و التدريس بها قبل أن يعود للقاهرة مرة أخرى.
دراسته
تلقى الدميري علوم اللغة و الفقه و الحديث و الأدب بالجامع الأزهر على مجموعة من كبار علماء عصره منهم الشيخ بهاء الدين السبكي، و الشيخ جمال الدين الإسنوى، و الكمال أبي الفضل النويري، و ابن الملقن، و البلقيني، و البرهان القيراطي، و البهاء عقيل. و حين بلغ في معارفه مرتبة الأستاذية و اعترف له شيوخه بذلك، تحول إلى التدريس في الجامع الأزهر حيث كانت حلقة يلقى فيها الدروس على تلامذته يوم السبت، و في القبة البيببرسية حيث كان يحاضر في علم الحديث، و في مدرسة ابن البقري بباب النصر حيث كان يعظ الناس يوم الجمعة، و في جامع الظاهر بحي الحسينية حيث كان يلقي دروسه بعد عصر الجمعة.
