أبو البقاء كمال الدين محمد بن موسى بن عيسى بن على الملقب بالـ "الدميري" نظرا لانتماء أسرته إلى بلدة "دميرة" بشمال مصر.
مولده و حياته
ولد كمال الدين الدميري بمدينة القاهرة عام 742 هـ (1341 م)، و كان في أول أمره يعمل خياطا ثم غلبه حب العلم فثابر على تلقيه حتى برز فيه فأفتى و درّس بالقاهرة، ثم انتقل إلى مكة للمجاوزة و التدريس بها قبل أن يعود للقاهرة مرة أخرى.
دراسته
تلقى الدميري علوم اللغة و الفقه و الحديث و الأدب بالجامع الأزهر على مجموعة من كبار علماء عصره منهم الشيخ بهاء الدين السبكي، و الشيخ جمال الدين الإسنوى، و الكمال أبي الفضل النويري، و ابن الملقن، و البلقيني، و البرهان القيراطي، و البهاء عقيل. و حين بلغ في معارفه مرتبة الأستاذية و اعترف له شيوخه بذلك، تحول إلى التدريس في الجامع الأزهر حيث كانت حلقة يلقى فيها الدروس على تلامذته يوم السبت، و في القبة البيببرسية حيث كان يحاضر في علم الحديث، و في مدرسة ابن البقري بباب النصر حيث كان يعظ الناس يوم الجمعة، و في جامع الظاهر بحي الحسينية حيث كان يلقي دروسه بعد عصر الجمعة.

Book Description
كتاب حياة الحيوان في علم المحاضرة للدميري، طبع لأول مرة في مصر، وهو للشيخ كمال الدين محمد بن عيسى الدميري الشافعي توفي عام 808هـ. وغايته أن يفرق بين الصحيح والسقيم في ما يتداوله الناس ويتناقلونه من أخبار الحيوان وغرائبه وقد رتبه على حروف المعجم ليسهل به من الأسماء ما استعجم، وسرد جانباً من عادات الحيوان وأوصافه وأسمائه، كما أورد طائفة من أخبار الخلفاء وغيرهم.
ومن غريب ما يذكره فائدة ذكرها المؤرخون أن كل سادس قائم بأمر الأمة مخلوع وهو يذكر ما ذكره الآخرون ويريد عليه قدراً يسيراً من سيرة كل واحد منهم وأيامه وسبب موته ومدة خلافته وعمره. والجزء الأول الذي بين أيدينا بدأه المؤلف بالهمزة وختمه بالراء المهملة.
