يتحدث زياد عن نفسه قائلاً ولدت في زهرة المدائن بوابة السماء ومنارة المدى القدس عام 1964م، ومن حيث انني قد تورطت في الحياة استمريت نحو الغوص عميقا في بحر المدن والشوارع والحارات والصفيح المقاوم لاشعة الشمس وغبار الامنيات ، درست حتى الثانوية في وطني الجميل ولانني لا احب الحدود فواصل الرحم ركضت جريا الى الاردن الهادئة ومن حليب جامعة اليرموك استقيت اللغة العربية اللذيذة حتى ارتويت وتخرجت منها في عام 1989م وبعدها سارت بي الخطى نحو بوابات المدارس حتى استقر امري في احد مدارس رام الله ومن هنا بدأت .... كتبت القصة حتى كتبتني على الواح العمر بجهاته الااربعة وطبعت منها: نوما هادئا يا رام في عام 1990 موعد بذئء مع العاصفة في عام 1994 الشرفات ترحل ايضا في عام 1998 وتحت الطبع( شتاء في قميص رجل) ومازلت اسير على ادلاج الريح لحظة بلحظة ، انتظر مقهى الحياة لكي انهي شرب قهوتي السمراء تحت اضواء المدن التي تضحك من شدة الالم.

أحمد رفيق عوض نقلة نوعية في مجموعة "خذيني إلى موتي" للقاص زياد خداش، هي نقلة نوعية في سرده الذي عودنا عليه في مجموعاته السابقة، وهي نقلة نوعية أيضا في مضامين القصة القصيرة في بلادنا، أقول ذلك بثقة تامة، فلم يجرؤ قاص من قبل على أن يدخل إلى هذه المناطق المعتمة والشائكة والجدلية، لم يجسر قاص من قبل على أن يقول ما قال زياد بهذه السخونة والجرأة والوجدان العارم، ولهذا فإن نصوص "خذيني إلى موتي" نصوص جديدة بما تريد أن تقوله أيضا، الآن بالذات، وفي هذا المكان بالذات أيضا.
