قليلة هي الكتب التي تعنى بعلم الترجمة في اللغة العربية. وعلى الرغم من صدور كتاب كريستين دوريو هذا في العام 1988، فإنه مازال يعتبر، إلى اليوم، من أهم المراجع الأساسية في علم الترجمة وطرائق تدريسها. وإنّ صدوره، منقولاً إلى العربية، يشكل علامة فارقة في المكتبة العربية، إذ هو يلبي حاجة الطلبة والأساتذة ومحترفي الترجمة. إنه أداة عمل في غاية الأهمية، من النواحي النظرية والمنهجية والعمليّة.
