نبذة النيل والفرات: هذا كتاب جامع شامل، أما جامع فلأنه جمع بين التاريخ والجغرافيا وعلم الأنساب. تحدث عن حوطة بني تميم من حيث موقعها الجغرافي وطبيعة أرضها ومكونات تضاريسها ومناخها كما تحدث عن مكوناتها من البلدات والقرى والهجر والمراكز والأحياء، والأودية والشعاب. كما تحدث عن تاريخها القديم وما مر عليها من حوادث في الماضي والحاضر، ولم يغب عليه أن يتحدث عما تزخر به هذه البلاد من آثار ومعالم تاريخية يثبت لما لهذا الجزء من مملكتنا من مكانة تاريخية وما سطره أهلها من بطولات. ذلك أن تذخر به هذه المحافظة من حصون وقلاع وقصور ومباني وقصور قديمة يدل على تاريخ قديم مشرف وماضي تليد. ولم يكتف المؤلف بذكر تاريخ تلك المنطقة منذ ظهور الإسلام بل أبحر بنا إلى ما قبل ذلك في محاولة منه لسبر غور تاريخ قديم جداً لهذه المنطقة، ولارتباط تاريخ البلاد النجدية مع الدولة السعودية في مراحلها الثلاث فقد أفرد المؤلف جزءاً مهماً من كتابه لتاريخ حوطة بني تميم وأهلها مع الدولة السعودية الأولى والثانية والثالثة. كما وأفرد فصلاً عن الرسائل والخطابات الموجهة إلى أهالي حوطة بني تميم وما اشتملت عليه هذه الخطابات من حثّ على التمسك بالدين الحنيف والسير عليه. كما وتضمن نصاً لبعض الوثائق متضمنة رسائل من الملك عبد العزيز إلى أهالي حوطة بني تميم وعلى نصوص من القضايا الشرعية الصادرة من قضاة حوطة بني تميم.
