ولد في قرية شبطين شمال لبنان وعمل في الصحافة العربية في بيروت ولندن وباريس قبل هجرته الى استراليا في أواخر عام 1988 وما زال يعمل في مجال الصحافة في أستراليا كما أنه يكتب لعدد من الصحف في الدول العربية صدر له عدة دواوين: ليس للمساء أخوة - 1981 المياه المياه - 1983 رجل في هواء مستعمل يقعد ويفكر في الحيوانات - 1985 مقعد راكب غادر الباص - 1987 بسبب غيمة على الأرجح - 1992 محاولة وصل ضفتين بصوت - 1997 نص الغياب - 1999 غبار - 2001 رتق الهواء - 2005

"لم نوقظ النائمين ولم نقل كلمة، فقط سمعنا الكلمات الأخيرة للأبواب التي كانت تئز عند دخولنا وخروجنا ومشيا، تركنا صوراً على الحائط، رائحة زيتون في الزاوية، أعضاء حكايات على المناشر مشكوكة مع التبغ، ورأسك يا رياض الذي صار، نيازك.
مقطعين مخلعين واثبين، على عكازات في الشوارع، نصل بأعضاء ناقصة حيث نذهب وحين نغادر، نترك بعض أعضاء، لنا عيون وأقدام، لا تزال هناك، لذلك حين نمشي، لا تشعر الدروب بنا وإذا انهمر مطر تكون في مكان آخر.
