هذا الكتاب تسجيل لحركة جهادية قادها الشيخ بوعمامة الزعيم الصوفي «المْرابَطْ» في نهاية القرن التاسع عشر ضد الاستعمار الفرنسي(1881-1908). هي استمرار لمقاومة أولاد سيد الشيخ التي اندلعت سنة 1864؛ قادها زعيم صوفي بمساعدة مقدمين صناديد في ميدان الذكر كما هم صناديد في ميدان المعركة. يتعرض الكتاب لظروف اندلاع الحركة الجهادية بالجنوب الغربي الجزائري ولمراحلها، من مرحلة المواجهة إلى مرحلة الحرب الشعبية الطويلة النفس، كما يتعرض لخصوصياتها ولظروف استمرارها من المغرب الأقصى وموقف السلطات المغربية منها. ومقاومة الشيخ بوعمامة هذه هي إحدى المقاومات الشعبية الجهادية التي واجهت المستعمر الفرنسي منذ أن وطئت أقدام جنود الحملة الفرنسية أرض الجزائر سنة 1830. إن بطولة الشعب الجزائري واستماتته في سبيل الحياة الحرة الكريمة، التي عشقها أسلافه، لتتجدد هي الأخرى على مر العصور، في نفوس الشعب الجزائري الذي احتشد ضمن حركات منظمة حينا وفردية عفوية حينا آخر، ليرفع عنه عار الاحتلال ويفرض على الغاصبين الاعتراف بحريته واستقلاله
