هذه الرواية هي أحد تلك الروايات التي يتحدث فيها الكاتب عن احداث حدثت له أو مرت عليه , وبطل هذه الرواية هو الدكتور خالد عبد العزيز شاب سوري الجنسية -في بداية الرواية- ليتضح فيما بعد أنه إبن لفتاة يمنية . تتناول هذه الرواية قصتين مزدوجتين , الأولى تحكي قصة حب من طرف واحد ومعاناته الأليمة في حرب مشاعر تجتاحه وأن كيف يحاول بذل قصار جهده في التقرب من محبوبته –ربا - التى أغلقت كل أبواب الحب في وجهه, وكيف أصبح في نار عشقها يتأوه، بينما هي لم تمنحه سوى لمحة من حب وعوالم من التجاهل والخيال. والقصة الثانية تحكي مشوار سحر مع والدها وكيف يحاولون بشتى الوسائل والطرق الهروب من أفواه المجتمع البائس الذي يحكم على الناس من مجرد وجهة نظرهم الشخصية ... فقد تعرضت سحر لحادثة مؤسفة ليبدأ والدها بالتفكير نحو كيفية إخراجها من اليمن لأنه كان يخشى كثيرا من الفضيحة ومن العار ومما سيقوله الناس عنهم. في النهاية الرواية ستجد تفسير للكثير من الأسئلة الشائكة التي ستحيرك اثناء القراءة و ستشغل فكرك, ومن بين تلك الأسئلة لماذا ظلت ربا تعامل ذاك المحب بذلك الجفا المهيب - قريبة جدا , وبعيدة أيضا-, ومن تكون صاحبة رواية الآنسة -سين-صاحبة الرواية المجهولة-.
بين أسطر هذه الرواية يوجد الكثير من القضايا الهامة التي تجتاح عالمنا العربي كتقديس الناس للعادات والتقاليد والظلم الذي يتألم الكثير بسببه , والاضطهاد الذي تتعرض له المرأة ونظرة الرجال نحوها , وكذلك مسألة حرية الشعوب واستعبادها واستغفالها .
