رواية تتحدث بأسلوب فلسفي عميق وشيق عن قصة حب عاشها البطل وصراعه المرير للوصول الى محبوبته متحدياً كل تلك المشاكل والصعاب التي ألمت به وكانت حوله, ومن بين تلك المصائب كانت الصراع العنيف بين الأفكار التي كان يؤمن بها البطل والعادات والتقاليد اليمنية التي اتخذها البطل كأنها عدوا له, يسرد البطل فيها – احمد سلطان- قصته في الحب على هيئة رسائل الى ابنته-سعاد- مبيناً فيها كل ما مر به من مشاكل ومصائب اقتحمت حياته, وكم تعرض بسبب قصة حبه تلك التي عاشها مع ابنة القبيلة المجاورة لهم التي كانت قبيلتها على خلاف دائم مع قبيلتهم. تبنت هذه الرواية العديد من الأفكار منها الآم الحب ووجع الفراق ولذة أداء دور العاشق, وكم أن هناك قصص فنيت بسبب إما تدخل الأسرة او بسبب نقص الثقة من أحد الطرفين, مثال على ذلك حكاية هذا البطل الذي وقع في غرام زميلته, عندما تأكد من حبها له علم بأنها من قبيلة معادية لقبيلته التي يعيش فيها ولذلك فقد رفض والدها أمر زوجها منه وكذلك والد البطل اعرض عن هذا الأمر ووضعه في طريق لا مجرد منه وهو بأن يتزوج من ابنة عمه التي لمم يكن يحبها, ثم تحدث البطل عن سبب مقتل أخيه والذي كان يتصف بالمكر والطمع وكيف كانت ستؤول الأمر الى مشاكل ثأر ودماء لولا أنه أدرك الامر معرضاً نفسه للمهلكة. هذه الرواية من الروايات اليمنية القليلة التي تتحدث عن الواقع بأسلوب يحاكي فيها كل ما يمر فيه الانسان القبلي من محاسن ومساوئ وعن اضطهاد المرأة فيه بشكل واضح مستعرضاً بأكثر من مشهد شاهد على ذلك, ثم يختم فيها البطل مغامرته تلك بتراجيديا حزينة تنتهى بأن كل تلك الافكار التي قاتلها اغتالته على حين غرة منه.
