كانت غايتي الرئيسة من وراء هذا الكتاب هي إبراز الوجه الحقيقي للتشيع الذي لا يعرفه الكثيرون من أهل السنة والجماعة، وذلك اعتمادًا على مصادرهم الأصلية وكتبهم المرجعية والتي استند إليها الكتاب في أكثر من موضع. هذا إلى جانب الإبحار في النموذج الدعائي الشيعي بضلعيه الديني والسياسي من خلال سلاح الفضائيات التي امتلكها شيعة اليوم ووظفوها بقوة لخدمة أغراضهم العقائدية، وذلك بغية التحذير مما ينطوي عليه خطاب تلك الفضائيات من أفكار مغلوطة وعقائد فاسدة لا علاقة لها بصحيح العقيدة الإسلامية. كما ابتغيت تقديم تشخيص علمي دقيق لعلاقة الجمهور المصري السني بتلك الفضائيات، وهي منطقة لم يقترب منها أحد من قبل بدرجة كبيرة، حيث ظل الحديث عن خطورة المد الشيعي عبر الفضائيات مقصورًا لفترة طويلة على التعرف على مضمون ما يقدم في فضائيات الشيعة دون محاولة التعرف على انعكاساتها على الجمهور المستهدف منها. وأخيرًا حاولت تقديم رؤية نقدية تقييمية متخصصة لتلك القنوات ومدى إمكانية تأثيرها على الجمهور السني من خلال النخبة المصرية المتخصصة ليتحقق التكامل في رصد الظاهرة الدعائية الشيعية بكافة أبعادها ومن خلال كافة الأطراف المعنية.
وقد جاء اختيار عنوان الكتاب (الدعاية الشيعية.. من سرداب الإمام الى عرش الفقيه) ليعبر عن نقطة البداية في رحلة الدعاية الشيعية ونقطة النهاية في تلك الرحلة. فالشيعة ينطلقون في دعايتهم من المنابع والجذور العقدية الخاصة بفكرهم والتى رمز لها الكتاب بـ ( سرداب الإمام المنتظر) في سامراء... وذلك حتى يصلوا بتلك الدعاية الى غايتها الكبري في إقامة الدولة المهدوية الشيعية التى رمز لها الكتاب بـ (عرش الفقيه) في طهران.
