إن المنهج التاريخي الذي انتهجته يقوم على متابعة الأحداث وفق مسار تاريخي، والربط في ما بينها مع توثيق ذلك ودحض بعض رؤى من سبق أن كتبوا عن بداية نشأة الزبير.
لذا فقد تناولت تاريخها منذ النشأة عند مطلع القرن 12هـ / الموافق أوائل القرن الثامن عشر الميلادي حتى نهاية المشيخة في بداية الخمسينيات من القرن الرابع عشر الهجري الموافق منتصف الثلاثينيات من القرن العشرين الميلادي حين تطلع بعض أهلها إلى العودة إلى أحضان الوطن الأم المملكة العربية السعودية للإسهام في بناء كيانها الإداري الجديد بما توافر لهم من خبرة وتجربة اكتسبوها، خصوصاً بعد أن أخذت تظهر الحدود بل السدود التي عرقلت التنقل الحر بين أجزاء الأوطان التي شملت الحضر والبدو معاً، أما تاريخ الزبير المعاصر الذي يبدأ بعد ذلك حتى السبعينيات من القرن العشري فقد تركته لقابل الأيام.
