يعرض هذا الكتاب لحياة وإبداع شاعر الكويت الشعبي الأول الشاعر فهد بورسلي (1918-1960)، ويؤرخ لتجربته الشعرية الرائدة لفترة ثلاثة عقود من ثلاثينيات حتى خمسينيات القرن الماضي.
في أحد الفصول نرى خطوات الشاعر في بداية مسيرته الإبداعية، حتى غدا أهم شاعر شعبي يرسم بقصائده مُتغيرات المجتمع الحياتية، من مرحلة الغوص والسفر إلى اكتشاف النفط إلى دخول الكهرباء لأول مرة للبيوت.
وهناك عرض لإشادات الصحافة وكبار أدباء وشعراء الكويت بتجربة فهد بورسلي ومنهم عبدالله الحاتم وأحمد البشر وعبدالله زكريا وآخرين.
ونرى سجلًا لقصائد الشاعر الغزلية التي تحولت إلى سامريات تُغنَّى إلى يومنا هذا، وقصائد وجدانية وانتقاديه بعضها يُنشر لأول مرة.
ويسجل الكتاب مرحلة تمرد الشاعر واستخدامه الهجاء وانتقاده لدول استعمارية وأشخاص مُهمين، مما أوقعه في معاناة أليمة وحجز من قبل السلطات.
