ولدت ونشأت في الضواحي الغربية لـ "سيدني" بأستراليا.
تلقت تعليمها بجامعة سيدني وعملت صحفية في كبرى جرائد المدينة "سيدني مورنينج" وكانت مراسلة لصحيفة "الوول ستريت" في البوسنة والصومال والشرق الأوسط ثم تفرغت للكتابة وتعيش حالياً في ولاية فرجينيا بأمريكا.
