«الميتاميزياء» أو فلسفة ما وراء الميزة هي، كل شيء فكرة ولغة – يقول حسن عجمي – وبذلك لا يوجد تمييز حقيقي بين الحقائق التي تبدو مختلفة. الميتاميزياء فلسفة ما وراء الميزة. من هنا، تعتبر الميتاميزياء أنه لا يوجد ما يميز الأشياء عن بعضها البعض بل الأشياء تتضمن بعضها البعض تحليلياً. هذا يعني أن العلاقة التحليلية هي التي تحكم تكوّن الأشياء ووجودها. بذلك تدرس الميتاميزياء الكون من خلال علاقاته التحليلية. والعلاقة التحليلية هي التي تتشكّل من جراء معاني المفاهيم. فمن خلال معنى مفهوم هذا الشيء أو ذاك تترتب علاقاته مع الأشياء الأخرى ودوره ووظائفه.تختلف الميتاميزياء عن التحليل النقدي؛ فبينما التحليل التقليدي يحلّل المفاهيم ليميّز بين الأشياء، الميتاميزياء تعتمد على تحليل المفاهيم لتوحّد بين الأشياء بدلاً من التمييز بينها. فمثلاً، بالنسبة إلى التحليل التقليدي، الحياة هي ما يولد وينمو ويتطور إلخ، وبذلك تتميز الكائنات الحية الحيوانية والنباتية عن الكون المادي غير الحي. لكن بالنسبة إلى الميتاميزياء، الحياة حقل لغوي قد يضيق ليشمل الكائنات الحيوانية والنباتية فقط وقد يتسع ليشمل الكون كله اعتماداً على اختياراتك اللغوية الوصفية. كل الأشياء والظواهر حقول لغوية ما يسمح لها أن تنفصل وتتحد في حقل واحد كالحقول الكهربائية والمغناطيسية. كما أن الميتاميزياء تختلف عن الميزياء. فبينما الميزياء تقول إن لكل شيء ميزة تميّزه عن الأشياء الأخرى وعلى ضوئها يتشكّل ويكون، تؤكد الميتاميزياء على أنه لا يوجد ما يميز الظواهر عن بعضها البعض بل كلها تتضمن بعضها البعض، (...) بفضل أنها أفكار ولغات. فمفهوم أي شيء يدل على فكرة ما وخطاب ما. وبذلك يحق لنا دراسة العالم على أنه فكرة ولغة.وبناءً على هذا الفهم تتعدد دلالات العنوان (الميتاميزياء) لتشمل في الكتاب دراسة: ميتاميزياء الوجود، ميتاميزياء الواقع، ميتاميزياء العلم والفلسفة، ميتاميزياء اليقين، ميتاميزياء المعرفة، ميتاميزياء العقل (...) وغيرها.
