الشعر في جوهره ليس ابناً للهزيمة أو للبشر المهزومين، بقدر ما هو توأم الروح الرافضة للهزيمة، أو الذاهبة لمطلقها الإنساني بزهو، لأن المرء حين يتخذ الهزيمة مسكناً له لا يمكن أن يرى سوى جدرانها القاتمة، والشعر دائماً خارج هذه الجدران لأنه ابن الحياة. هكذا يعبّر الشاعر إبراهيم نصرالله عن أهمية الشعر ودوره في الحياة وعلاقته بالإنسان، وخاصة الإنسان الفلسطيني الباحث دوماً عن وطن سليب فكان شاعرنا حاضناً لحلم كل فلسطيني معبراً في قصائده عن أنات قلوب حزينة وصرخات أفئدة مفجوعة، تقبع في عتبة السجان. في [أزمة الجنرال] يقول: "أيها العسكري معادلة السجن جد غريبة! هنا الصحراء كلابُ الحراسة.. وحشةُ ذئبِ الفلاةِ وخطوة موتٍ قريبةْ ولكنني قد رأيت السجين يغني هنا.. والسجون كئيبةْ!! هكذا هو الشعر ينسل هادئاً ليكتسح خبايا النفوس ويوقظ فيها الأمل لتضيء العتمات الدفينة وتشد بالإنسان ليخرج يغني للحياة ويسعى لتحقيق حلمه الكبير. محتويات الكتاب: "أحوال الجنرال"، "أغنية للحياة"، "الحوار الأخير قبل مقتل العصفور بدقائق"، "حوارية الصديقين"، "حوارية الغريب"، "الفتى النهر.. والجنرال"، "أوراق من مفكرة شارع عربي خلال الانتفاضة"، "الطائر"، "الذئب"، "القبر"، "راية القلب"، "فضيحة الثعلب". هذا، وقد أرفق الكتاب بـ CD (قرص مدمج) وفيه قراءات من ديوان "أحوال الجنرال" بصوت الشاعر إبراهيم نصرالله.
