في جديده الشعري «جنائزية رجل الملح» يحرص الشاعر عبد الله عبيد على استنطاق هالات الشعر الغائبة وبهجتها المتراصة بين عالمين (الحياة والموت) وهي معادلة الشاعر التي ينسج عليها حياكات شخصية يستمد منها الشكل الشعري لديه ماهيته الجزئية والكلية في ارتسامات صورية تكاد تقترب من الإفصاح والبوح والإشهار عن رغبات مفقودة أو مسروقة بقوة الدلالة المحتشدة بعناصرها البنائية التي ترسخ لقضية الشاعر الإنسانية ووجوده ذاتاً ممتلئة شعراً وفكراً ورغبة جامحة لنوع جديد من الكتابة.يقول: "لقد مضى زمن البكائيات كثيراً وليس من المعقول أن نقيس التجارب بمقدار تحريكها للوتر الأخير وتجاهل العبقرية الغنية لها. إن معنى الشعرية الحديثة أو ما يفترضه الواقع من طريقة للكتابة أراه يشبه الحرب الباردة، حيث على الشاعر الهروب من جحيم الواقع والدخول في فردوس المخيلة، أو تفادي كلاليب الجحيم والحصول على ملذّات الفردوس. لا يمكن للنص الإبداعي أن يكون كذلك إلا إذا كان مغايراً للمألوف وهادماً لكل الأنساق، لا يمكنني أن أتخيل نصاً إبداعياً خاضعاً لرقيب أو لشرط ما.. حتى شرط اللغة ينكسر أحياناً بحسب الضرورة الفنية وما تقتضيه طبيعة التجربة...".من قصيدته الموسومة بـ «التباسُ في النشيد..!» نقرأ له:عندما قلت: /إني سوف أحاول أن أملأ القدح/ انكسرت جرة الليل في جسدي/ واختنقت بموتٍ تحمّلني للحياة،/ بكيت كطفلٍ صغير وصحت:/ أحبك!!لم يكن في الظلام سواي لأجرح موتك/ في فرصة بين قبر.. وقبر وأحمل جرحك نحو/ الحياة، ولم أستطع أن أخبئ أجنحتي في السحاب،/ مضى وقتنا.. ها هي الأرض تمسك لحظتنا/ الذهبية إذ تتلبّسنا رعشة الأسئلة (...)".يضم الكتاب قصائد متنوعة تنتمي لقصيدة النثر انقسمت على عناوين هي: "على الساحل ولا يملك طوق نجاة"، "في ما يشبه جسد الطفل"، "سرديات جسدٍ في الغياب"، "مرثية لجسد الحب".
