يهتم هذا الكتاب بالموروث الشعبي الفرساني الصيغة والانتماء- شعراً ومناسبة- في أفراح الزواج وأفراح ختان الصبيان ومناسبة الانتقال من فرسان الى قرى النخيل أيام الصيف وهو الانتقال المعروف بـ "الشَّدة" – وبأغانيها الجميلة المعروفة بأغاني "الشدود" – و"عادات الحج" و"الدانة الفرسانية" و"بعض الأهازيج البحرية".
أعد الكتاب الأديب والشاعر والمؤرخ السعودي المعروف "ابراهيم مفتاح" تحت عنوان "الشعر الشعبي الفرساني ومناسباته" في منطقة جازان في المملكة العربية السعودية وجاء مشتملاً على تراجم لبعض أسماء الشعراء الشعبيين الفرسانيين. ونماذج من أشعارهم، وكثيراً من الأشعار الشعبية والمناسبات سواء أكانت هذه المناسبات تخص الذكور أو الإناث، إضافة الى ما أمكن للكاتب توثيقه من العادات والتقاليد التي هي من خصوصيات المجتمعات، فلكل مجتمع خصوصيته، وموروثه الشعبي، وعاداته وتقاليده، وفق بيئته التي تحيط به. كل ذلك جاء في الكتاب بمزيج متجانس يجمع بين روح الشاعر، وصفات الكاتب، وسعي الباحث المؤرخ.. وهو يقدم لنا عملاً متكاملاً ذو قيمة أجناسية عالية وفريدة.
وأما عن الشعراء الذين ضمهم هذا الكتاب منهم من يعرفهم القارئ تمام المعرفة، وآخرون تناقل الناس أشعارهم ولم يسمعهم أحد ولم يراهم ولكنهم جميعهم يشكلون تراث جزء من هذا الوطن الغالي على قلب الكاتب وقلب كل عربي واسمه "فرسان".
