هذا القاموس موجه للمشتغلين بالدراسات الإسلامية بعامة والدراسات الفارسية بخاصة، وهو يضم في صورته هذه الكلمات والمصطلحات المستعملة في الفارسية في العصور الإسلامية المختلفة إلى العصر الحديث الذي نعيش فيه، سواء في ذلك الكلمات الفارسية الأصيلة، والكلمات العربية التي دخلت الفارسية بعد دخول الفرس تحت راية الإسلام، وإقبالهم على تعلم اللغة العربية، التي نزل بها القرآن، كتاب هذا الدين، وكان عدد الكلمات العربية يتزايد كلما زاد الاختلاط بين العرب والفرس، وزاد امتزاج الثقافتين العربية والفارسية، حتى أصبحت الكلمات العربية تشكل جزءاً كبيراً من مفردات اللغة الفارسية، لا يقل عن نصفها بحال من الأحوال.
كما يضم القاموس الكلمات التي أخذتها الفارسية عن اللغات الأخرى غير العربية من شرقية وغربية، وأصبحت مألوفة فيها جارية على ألسنة المتحدثين والدارسين لها وأكثر هذه الكلمات مأخوذة عن الفارسية حين زاد اتصال إيران بالغرب بعد قيام الثورة الفرنسية الشهيرة وهناك كلمات قليلة مأخوذة عن السريانية والتركية والروسية والإنجليزية. وزيادة في الإيضاح تم إلحاق كل كلمة أخذت من غير العربية بأصلها الذي أخذت منه، كما وتم ذكر معاني الكلمات العربية الأصل كما وردت في الاستعمال الفارسي، لتكون متماشية مع فكرة القاموس ومحققة للهدف من تأليفه.
