"دموع المحبرة" قصائد شعرية متنوعة الأغراض، ما بين (دين، فكر، مدح، وصف، غزل ونصح)، تركز على اللغة وحشد الصور والدلالات الرمزية البعيدة التي تعبر عن هموم الشاعر عبد الله بن سليمان المطلق وانشغالاته، كما تخاطب نخب المتلقين في لغة خارجة عن المستوى العام، بعيدًا عن التكلف في الأسلوب، والاكتفاء بالطاقة الداخلية للنص وهي الصورة والإيحاء والمعاني كمعيار لجودة النص. تحت عنوان " رحلوا " نقرأ للشاعر المطلق: "رحلوا فما نبْضٌ هنا يتكرَّرُ / رحلوا ودمْعُ العينِ فيني أزْخَرُ خبَّأْتُ قلبي في ودائعِ رحْلهِمْ / ومضَيْتُ لا قلبًا هنا لا أشعرُ مُتخفِّيًا بالليلِ أمشي خَيْبةً / والغُصْنُ يبكي إن جفاهُ الأطْيَرُ لو يسمعون أنينَ حرفي ما سَلَوْا / لو يعلمون عظيمَ شوقي بكَّرُوا ". وبالإضافة إلى الشعر يضم الشاعر إلى كتابه مجموعة من الحكم والمثل الحياتية الناجمة عن تجربته في الحياة وقد اختار لها عنوان «من هُنا.. وهناك!» نقرأ منها: - الحياة تبدأ بسرعةٍ، وسرعان ما تنتهي.. فاعمل شيئاً مفيداً قبل النهاية، واترُكْ أثراً. - الحروفُ تبكي أيضاً.. إذا لم تستطعْ وصفَ من تُحِب! - الأماني: هي جرعاتٌ من الأملِ، لمقاومة الألمِ! - كثيرٌ من الأشواق ليس لها مكانٌ إلا الورق.. وكثيرٌ من الأرق!
