يُصدر المفكر اللبناني كريم مروة جزئين من كتاب (شخصيات وتواريخ في السياسة والفكر والأدب والفن) وهما استكمالاً لما جاء في سبعة كتب كان المؤلف قد أصدرها في السنوات الخمس الأخيرة؛ قدم للكتاب بمقدمة اعتبر خلالها أن تلك الكتب لها "وظيفة معرفية ونهضوية في تحديدي لها. إلا أن هذا الكتاب يختلف عن الكتب السابقة في أنه أكثر شمولية وأكثرها تنوعاً وتعدداً في التيارات السياسية والفكرية والأدبية والفنية. فقد استحضرت في جزئي هذا الكتاب ثلاثة وخمسين شخصية في السياسة والفكر والأدب والفن. ولم يكن اختياري لهذه الشخصيات بتنوعها وبتعدد الميادين المتصلة بكل منها اختياراً عفوياً. بل هو كان واضح الغرض والهدف بالنسبة إليّ. إذ أن الشرط لهذا التعدد والتنوع والاختلاف هو ما اعتبرته الأساس في تكوين معرفة ونهضة عبّرت عنهما مواقف وأفكار هذه الشخصيات، معرفة ونهضة امتدت مفاعيلهما من مطلع القرن الماضي حتى نهايته...".
