يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى دراسة السياسات المعتمدة من قبل النخب الطائفية وتحليل بعض خطاباتهم الأيديولوجية وهم يتصارعون على الدولة وهويتها الوطنية والعملية الدستورية في ضوء إعادة النظر في العلاقات ما بين الدولة والطائفة أي أنه يدرس الكيفية التي يحاول من خلالها اللبنانيين التكيّف ومفهومي الهوية الطائفية والمجتمع الوطني، أي تقديم التضامن والولاء للطائفة وللوطن.
كتاب هام ودراسة نقدية وموضوعية لتاريخ لبنان القديم والحديث يقدم رؤية جديدة في إعادة بناء الوطن–الدولة على أساس احترام الدستور والشراكة في الوطن الأم.
