"آثار الصندل Rastros de S?ndalo" رواية عن الزمن الجميل. إنه ليس الزمن الجميل بمعنى الجمال المتعارف عليه، بل إنه الوجه الجوهري للجمال. هي رواية تتحدث عن المستقبل الذي يسلبه المرض في منتصف الطريق بين أديس أبابا وهافانا. تتناول الرواية حياة فتاتان شقيقتان ملؤها الألم والشقاء؛ إذ يفرِّق بينهما القدر، ولا يجمعهما إلا بعد فوات العمر. سيتا ومنى فرّقهما القدر لتستقر إحداهما في أحد المنازل وتعمل كالعبيد قبل أن يبتسم لها القدر مجدداً، ويحملها إلى قمة المجد والشهرة. أما سيتا فقد أنصفها القدر، وانتشلتها يد التبني من حياة الميتم، إلا أنها حرمتها من الشعور بمعنى الأخوة. أثيوبيا أرض الشقاء، غادرها سولومون بعد موت أمه وأبيه قاصداً كوبا. وبعد أن نال ما ناله من علم حنَّ للزمن الجميل، فعاد إلى موطنه لينفع بلده بعلمه، ولكن أثيوبيا بعد كل تلك السنين لم تعد تلك التي تركها، وبعد وفاة زوجته، وجد أنه لا بدّ من الفرار من تلك الأرض. أراضٍ تنجب، وأراضٍ تتبنّى. إنها القصة ذاتها من الهند إلى أثيوبيا إلى إسبانيا، من بومباي إلى أديس أبابا إلى برشلونة. ولكن، للقدر دائماً كلمته فهو يجمع ويفرِّق، يأخذ ويعطي. وللإنسان كلمته أيضاً، فللأحلام قوة شد طبيعية ترسّخ ما اقتلع من جذوره.
