مع أنه لا شئ على وجه الأرض لا يمحوه النسيان أو تتبدله الذكرى، إلا أن المحاولة تصبح مبرراً للحياة، وتصبح الكتابة عن الماضي هي - ردة الروح إليه، أو هذا هو ما يشكل محاولتي هذه لتفسير ما أنا الآن عليه وما كنته لابني (أشرف) وابنتي (فيروز) وأحفادي منهما (لينا وليلى ويوسف وسيف) حتى الآن والذي قد تكون له فائدة أن يفهموا ويسامحوا أو لا تكون له أي أهمية على الإطلاق إلا أهمية ممارسة كتابته.
تلك الكتابة التي أرجو أن تتجسد خلال عدة محاور لا متوالية ولكن متقاطعة متصارعة باستخدام كل أساليب الرواية التسجيلية والتاريخ الروائي وأفاق الخيال الإبداعي الإنساني - لرحلة ذات إنسانية مستوحشة معذبة بالأسئلة في واقع موضوعي متحرك ومحتدم لكنه عاجز عن توفير الإجابات خلال بناء روائي متعدد الأبعاد والمستويات، من خلال التسجيل والخلق والتأريخ لواقع عشته كأني عايشته وعبر سراديب الذات أكتبه، وقد ينطبق على كل هذا الحلم - الوهم، قول بورخيس:
لقد أنجز هذه الملحمة في غبشة موته، وربما كان (هوميروس ودانتي) قد أنجزاها من قبل.
