بين الهجرة والطموح تدور ثيمات رواية (الثلوج الغاربة) للكاتب السوداني الفاتح كامل، وتنفتح على ثقافتين مختلفتين شرق/غرب، وتتمظهر عبر شريط طويل من الوقائع والأحداث تتجاوز فيه منظومتا قيم مختلفتان، تتواجهان من دون أن تستطيع إحداهما السيطرة على الأخرى.
وخير بداية (كلمات لا بد منها) يقدم خلالها الفاتح كامل عمله (الثلوج الغاربة) بالقول: "أغلب مجريات هذه الرواية للحقيقة، خيالية ولا تلامس واقع محدد من لحم ودم بأي شكل من الأشكال، وعلاقتي بها لا تتجاوز علاقة الكاتب الحقيقي بالكاتب الضمني. وهي في نهاية المطاف محض اختلاق عقل جامح، حاول مجتهداً تبيان الحد الفاصل بين الحق والباطل، الخير والشر على الطريقة التي تخيرها، أصاب أو أخطأ (...)".
وبدءاً من العنوان، تبدو "الثلوج" بزمهريها طوقاً/ قيداً يكبل بطل الرواية إضافة إلى أطواق أخرى بينها الغربة والوطن والمجتمع هي الدائرة التي تطوق بطل الرواية الباحث عن ذاته وسط هذا الركام، والذي لا يلبث الروائي أن يقوم بالنيابة عنه بكسر ذلك الطوق ليعيش بطله حياته بعيداً عن الأوامر والنواهي والممنوعات والأخلاقيات مطلقاً العنان لرغبته البشرية، فيكون قد عكس لنا حال التيه الذي يصاحب المهاجر العربي والذي يفقد فيه إلى حد ما القدرة على الحب والحياة بشكل طبيعي وسوي، ولعل ذلك يعيدنا إلى القول المنسوب إلى مارتن هيدغر وهو: "الإنسان يتيه، إنه لا يسقط في التيه في لحظة معينة، إنه لا يتحرك إلاّ في التيه لأنه ينغلق وهو ينفتح وبذلك يجد نفسه دوماً في التيه" وبذلك نكون أمام حالة عامة للذات البشرية وكل ما فعله الروائي هو أنه قام بتعريتها بلغة وسطية، مهذبة، تؤثر الكناية على الحقيقة، والتلميح على التصريح، ومن هنا تأتي واقعية الخطاب لتوهم بواقعية الحكاية وتتكامل معها.
